Best Barn Wedding Venues in the UK
There are so many beautiful UK wedding venues – how do you choose? These are a few of my favourites I’ve stumbled across in the past ten years as a wedding photographer!
Grangefields Wedding Barn, Derbyshire
Grangefields has an intrinsic barn wedding venue feel, but with so much more to offer, too. With multiple spaces to move through throughout the day, there’s no waiting for changeovers and each space holds so much potential – from the beautiful ceremony barn, to the industrial-feel reception space. Throughout the venue, natural light is a priority, making for beautiful photography, and lovely portrait spaces even when the British weather is unpredictable. The lead up to the barn makes for an impressive entrance and a lovely spot to walk for wedding photos, with its flat surroundings making for a lovely golden hour in the evenings. The Cripps & Co team are wonderful, and make for a seamless and lovely day. The team have an array of beautiful venues across the UK, including Tithe Barn in Yorkshire, and Stone Barn in the Cotswolds, too.
Godwick Barn & Godwick Hall, North Norfolk
It wouldn’t be a list of wedding barns in the UK without mentioning Godwick Hall near Kings Lynn – with its beautiful red brick, iconic tractor to arrive on and the ruins making for a memorable backdrop. The flat Norfolk setting means lots of lovely golden light in the evening, and the team move you through the space throughout the day to make the most of the entire barn. Indoor and outdoor ceremonies mean it suits lots of tastes, the food is always lovely, and getting ready in the wonderful Godwick Hall and surrounding shepherd’s huts means you can truly make a weekend of it (did I mention there’s a pool?!)
Yard Space by Old Gore, Cotswolds
The Yard Space team have created a venue so full of texture and light that it’s a joy to photograph – so thoughtfully put together that each space throughout the venue has its own purpose and role during the day. The food is otherworldly – the team use a variety of cooking techniques to fill the day with food that’s truly special. The disco ball truly brings the party – and the Yard Space team have a new venture, Ivy Lodge, opening soon too.
Eden Barn, Cumbria
Eden Barn is beautiful, with its thoughtfully designed spaces and incredible Lake District backdrop, but its true joy lies in the team – it is at its heart a family run venue, where you’ll find Cliff in his suit mowing the lawns and cleaning the windows in the lead up to your day. The team have created something so special that you feel a part of the moment you step into the beautiful bar space.
